Siobhan Virginia Mangan collects things you would find in your grandmothers attic,
tucked away in wooden chests. She drives her car on an empty tank so,
when she breaks down on the side of Route 9, the world will suddenly revolve
around her. She wants to take your picture. You can see more of her work at www.brownpigeon.weebly.com.
Why We Like It: Siobhan's work is both familiar and strange, pulling us into familiar
attics or out into fields, blurring the lines between dirt and rust. Her images are simultaneously
coarse and gentle. Quiet but evocative, like vines slowly winding their way into the backseat of
an abandoned car. Elijah thinks “it’s the kind of shit Ryan would like. Things that are
dirty and naked and dead.”
